Halo Build Co is a specialty contractor — we do three things very well rather than everything moderately. The three services connect: a wildfire defense system installed correctly requires understanding both roofing and structural water management; a Velux skylight installed on a Chapter 7A-compliant roof requires knowing the wildfire code alongside the manufacturer's flashing spec.
Residential roofing — re-roofing, repairs, and full replacements across all common Los Angeles roofing materials: asphalt architectural shingles, concrete and clay tile, standing-seam metal, torch-down modified bitumen, TPO and PVC membranes, and slate. We work on everything from 1930s Highland Park Craftsman bungalows to modern architect-designed flat-roof homes in Silver Lake and Pacific Palisades.
Velux skylight installation — deck-mounted, curb-mounted, fresh-air venting (VS, VSE, VSS), sun tunnels, roof windows, and flat-roof systems. Halo Build Co is a Velux dealer, which means we install the full residential product line and provide the manufacturer's 10-year installation warranty. We also fabricate custom architectural skylights — ridge, pyramid, barrel-vault, and lean-to geometries — for atriums, entryways, and large-span applications where standard sizes don't fit.
Wildfire defense systems — roof-mounted sprinkler systems that create a wet perimeter around the home, suppressing ember ignition. Common on hillside properties in Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Bel Air, Brentwood canyons, Hollywood Hills, and Palos Verdes — anywhere within the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone. Systems can run on municipal water pressure with optional booster pump, inground tank, or pool-source upgrades depending on property requirements.
Three things distinguish how we run projects:
Detailed written estimates before you sign anything. Every estimate includes measured roof square footage (not just "your house is 2,000 sqft, so..."), specific material brand and model, underlayment type, flashing details, ventilation plan, warranty terms, and timeline with weather contingency. If you're comparing bids, ours is the one you can line-item against the others.
Code compliance built into the scope, not sold as an upsell. If your property is in the VHFHSZ, Chapter 7A applies — Class A fire-rated roofing, ember-resistant WUI vents, non-combustible eaves. We spec these on the initial estimate rather than surprising you with change orders after tear-off. Same for HPOZ (Historic Preservation Overlay Zone) design review, Coastal Commission filings, and HOA architectural approvals in Beverly Hills, Palos Verdes Estates, and Rolling Hills.

Velux authorized dealer — we install the complete Velux residential skylight product line and provide the manufacturer's 10-year installation warranty on all deck- and curb-mounted units installed with genuine Velux flashing kits.
Chapter 7A wildfire-compliance experience — we regularly file VHFHSZ permits with LADBS and LA County, coordinate with CalFire on defensible-space requirements, and provide the compliance documentation homeowners insurance carriers request for premium discounts.
